The last time we went to Yellowstone Park was about 10 yrs. ago.  I was disappointed by all the trees that have been killed by fire or the beetle disease.  It is still a pretty place, but the forest has been devastated in most of the park.  Because we are here early summer, their rivers are very high and overflow into the meadows.  The ground is pretty wet.  We did see a lot of bison, some elk, and a black bear. The weather has been rainy and cool, but we still went to see the sights, Old Faithful, Artist Point, Paint mud holes, etc.  I will include some pictures of what we saw.

We traveled North from Pocatello, ID., to Island Park which is about 16 miles from W. Yellowstone.  We stayed in Redrock Rv. Pk. in Island Park for a week.  It was a beautiful area away from the highway and railroad tracks situated in a beautiful valley surrounded by snow covered mtns.  It is so beautiful and peaceful.  Island Park was an area we use to take our children to camp and float down the Henry's Fork river when they were younger.

6-12-11 Pocatello, ID - Cowboy RV Park

Headed to Pocatello Sat.for a couple of days and stayed at the Cowboy RV Park.  We use to live in Pocatello, Id, for 11 yrs. and decided to see some of our old homes and eat at our favorite places.   Our favorite Italian Bistro is a small restaurant where we love their "Buddy's Salad".  Their dressing is what is outstanding, so I was sure to buy a few pints of dressing.  The town has not grown too much in the 28 yrs since we left.  It is a town where the main employer is the railroad.  Our daughter, Jenni, was born there.

6/11/11 Springville RV Park, Springville, Ut

We left Zion's RV Resort and headed north and stayed one night at East Bay RV Park just outside of Provo, UT.  It was right off I-15.  Th next stop will be Pocatello, ID.

SQUIRREL POSING FOR HIS PICTURE

TODAY WE WENT TO ZION'S NAT'L PARK FOR THE DAY.  THE PARK AND THE SURROUNDING MULTICOLORED MTNS. THAT HAVE BEEN SCULPTED BY BILLIONS OF YEARS OF THE AFFECTS OF THE WINDS AND WATER SHAPING THEM. WE TOOK A COUPLE OF EASY WALKS AND TOOK A TON OF PICTURES.  THE VIRGIN RIVER FLOWS THROUGHOUT THE CANYON.  THE SANDSTONE ROCK CHANGES COLOR AT DIFFERENT TIMES OF THE DAY.  THE RUST COLOR COMES FROM THE IRON AND IRON OXIDE COMPOSITION OF THE STONE ALONG WITH LAYERS OF SAND AND GRAVEL THAT COMPACTED THE LAYERS INTO THE MULTICOLOR SANDSTONE.  WE WERE ABLE TO TAKE PICTURES OF SOME OF THE NATURAL CRITTERS.   A LITTLE SQUIRREL POSED FOR A PICTURE AND WE EVEN GOT A PICTURE OF A GOPHER SNAKE.  IT WAS REALLY WORTH A TRIP TO THE PARK.  IT WAS SUCH AN AWESOME SIGHT!

JUNE 4, 2011 - ZION'S RIVER RESORT

ZION'S RIVER RESORT, VIRGIN, UTAH
WE ARRIVED @ ZION'S RIVER RESORT WHICH IS CLOSE TO THE ZION'S NATIONAL PARK.  WE HAVE A SITE BA CKED UP TO THE VIRGIN RIVER.  IT IS A REALLY NICE PARK WITH TREES AND GRASS SITES AND GRAVEL SITES.  WE ARE STAYING HERE FOR A WEEK TO GET A LITTLE BREAK ON THE PRICE.  IT IS PRICEY PLACE TO STAY, BUT VERY WELL KEPT UP.  THE PARK IS ABOUT 24 MI. FROM ST. GEORGE AND ONLY 13 MILES FROM THE PARK.   .ST. GEORGE IS A NICE TOWN OF ABOUT 150,000.  THIS RESORT IS SO QUIET WITH ONLY THE SOUND OF THE RIVER FLOWING, AND NO TRAINS, OR HIGHWAY NOISE.
